Liquid times - Philipp Geist
Der Berliner Künstler Philipp Geist zeigt im Rahmen von Extraschicht 2017 eine Lichtkunst-VideoMapping-Installation auf der historischen Fassade der Privatbrauerei Moritz Fiege. Die malerisch Installation thematisiert frei das Thema Flüssigkeiten und Zeit. Dabei entwickelt der Künstler auf der Fassade eine Lichtkunst-Installation aus Begriffen zu Flüssigkeiten, aus abstrakt-malerischen Bildkompositionen und figurativen Elementen. Farben und Wörter fließen über die Fassade werden zu abstrakten Bildkompositionen und lösen sich wieder auf, verschiedene Details der Herstellung von Bier werden in die Installation schemenhaft integriert. Die Installation zeigt eine nicht-narrative, bewegte Bildkomposition, die für die historische Fassade entwickelt wurde. Philipp Geist (1976 in Witten a.Ruhr geboren) arbeitet weltweit als Künstler mit den Medien Video/ Lichtinstallation, Fotografie und Malerei. Zuletzt realisierte Geist die Installation Time Drifts Cologne am Dom in Köln, im Rahmen des Diwali-Lichtfestes in Pune (Indien), in Dakar (Senegal) inszenierte er das 'Lightmark' der Dak'art Kunst-Biennale. 2014 zeigte er ein Doppelprojekt in Rio de Janeiro an der Christusstatue und auf der Favela Santa Marta. 2009 zeigte Geist in Bangkok am Königspalast eine VideoMapping-Installation anlässlich des Geburtstags des kürzlich verstorbenen König Bhumibols.

In the context of Extraschicht 2017, the Berlin artist Philipp Geist is showing a light-video-mapping installation on the historical facade of the private brewery Moritz Fiege. The painterly installation deals with the theme of fluids and time. In the process, the artist develops a light art installation on the facade, integrating terms relating to the topic of fluids, abstract-painterly compositions and figurative elements. Colors and words flow over the facade and become abstract compositions and dissolve again, various details of the production of beer are schematically integrated into the installation. The installation shows a non-narrative, moving picture composition, which was developed for the historical facade. Philipp Geist (born 1976 in Witten a.Ruhr) works worldwide as an artist with the media video / light installation, photography and painting. Recently, Geist realized the installation of Time Drifts Cologne at Cologne Cathedral, as part of the Diwali Light Festival in Pune, India, in Dakar (Senegal), he staged the 'Lightmark' of the Dak'art Art Biennale. In 2014 he presented a double project in Rio de Janeiro at the Christusstatue and on the favela Santa Marta. In 2009, Geist demonstrated a VideoMapping installation in Bangkok at the Königspalast on the occasion of the birthday of the recently deceased King Bhumibol.
